Faye Travel Insurance has simply been one of the best experiences with travel insurances that we’ve ever had. They are super straightforward and provide comprehensive coverage. We travel a lot with Bodhi and so have tried many different insurance companies. Faye was the easiest to use (we love a good digital app). Their coverage is simple but covers just about everything you may need while traveling.
The process is quick and easy. You simply put in your trip information here and then from there you can customize your coverage by adding on supplemental coverage (like pet care or rental car care) based on your needs. We found this to be really helpful when it comes to saving on cost! It’s also very easy to file a claim — as everything is done through their digital app. Plus, you can even talk to a real person 24/7 if you have any issues!
If you add the Pet Care coverage to your plan, you can be reimbursed up to $2,500 in emergency veterinary expenses and $250 for kenneling if you arrive back home later than expected.
Earlier this year we traveled with Bodhi to Italy. We did not know about pet travel insurance because we didn’t know that it existed!
While in Rome, Bodhi picked up a really bad stomach bug. Rome is a very popular tourist city and while we were there we visited many historical landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Nova. These landmarks attract well over 1 million tourists during high season! After one day of walking around Rome, we noticed that Bodhi’s demeanor was off. He wasn’t as playful as he normally is, and he wasn’t touching any of his food. We waited to see if the symptoms would disappear, but after 4 hours they just got worse. We were really concerned and knew we had to take him to a vet.
Finding a vet in a foreign city is tough enough, but having to worry about the additional costs gave us even more stress. Thankfully, Bodhi did not catch anything serious. After a few hours of waiting and examinations, Bodhi left the vet with antibiotics, and doctor’s order to rest. Due to this unfortunate situation we were unable to see the rest of Rome like we originally planned. We had planned on visiting sites like The Colosseum, The Spanish Steps, and Villa Borghese but left without seeing them.
When you’re traveling, unexpected things can come up! Since we travel a lot, we knew about regular travel insurance. But, after this incident with Bodhi we knew he needed to be covered as well. Our regular pet insurance does not cover Bodhi when he is outside of the US.
We had more countries we wanted to visit after Rome, so we knew Bodhi needed to be insured next time we traveled. That’s when we discovered Faye Travel Insurance. Since everything is done online and through their app, we quickly got coverage for both us and Bodhi for our next trip to London. We wanted to avoid being uninsured in a serious situation, like what we experienced in Italy.
Faye Travel Insurance, and it’s pet travel insurance add on, gave us peace of mind and made our international trips less stressful. Anyone looking for peace of mind when traveling with their dog should check them out!

What is Pet Insurance?
Pet health insurance is insurance you can get for your dog or pet in their normal day to day. It should cover your pet’s healthcare needs, including vet visits, surgery, injuries, and dental work. Please note that different pet insurances coverage will vary.
Similar to human health insurance, you pay a monthly or annual premium and may have deductibles based on the level of coverage you choose.
It is meant to provide financial assistance for your pet’s medical expenses mainly for day-to-day health concerns.
What is Pet Travel Insurance?
Pet travel insurance, on the other hand, is provided by businesses that specialize in offering insurance for your dog or pet when they are traveling with you.
This type of coverage only applies to the duration of your trip and usually covers your pet from the beginning to the end of the journey. There are also companies out there that provide coverage for your pet if they are traveling unaccompanied, such as when using a pet relocation service.
What is the difference between Pet Insurance and Pet Travel Insurance?
Many pet owners have regular pet health insurance which helps safeguards their pets against regular injuries and medical expenses. However, not all pet insurance policies extend coverage to illnesses and injuries during travel, and some may have limitations for expenses incurred abroad.
Therefore it is important to
1) check your current pet insurance coverage to see if they will also cover your pet during travel and
2) if not, then find a dedicated pet insurance policy tailored for travel, especially when journeying abroad with your furry companion.
We recommend Faye Travel Insurance with the added Pet Coverage option!
